FM Solar is really - applied solar. We provide various companies with the tools needed to produce solar substrates, assemble solar equipment and we assist with solar financing for solar applications >5 MW. Our mission is to provide the highest quality source for various applications and assist with the implementation of the solutions we provide.
We are a business-to-business company, providing OEM manufacturing tools and materials using our strong contacts in Asia. We are a USA-based company so our endusers are primarily solar cell manufacturing companies and here in California this means we work primarily with startup R&D companies who have a need for basic laboratory tools. However, we have many years' experience in the semiconductor industry and so we are able to provide process support for many of our customers.
We frequently travel to our customer sites and assist with installation and training of customer personnel. Since we represent several companies we are able to offer a wide variety of tools and materials.
After many years in the semiconductor manufacturing industry we are very familar and experienced with the unique needs of the microelectornics industry. Founders of FM Solar - Mark Wu and Frank Gavin - have worked with a large variety of companies in Asia, Europe and the USA. Frank Gavin
Frank Gavin is a long time sales and marketing professional with 30 years experience working for various companies in Silicon Valley including Universal Systems, Amdahl and Trio-Tech International. He was the founder of, Express Test, microelectronics test equipment company, which was acquired by a public company in 1999 and has since managed his own sales companies, including Group T, a sales rep company and FM Solar, a solar materials brokerage company. FM Solar has provided materials and manufacturing equipment to OEM solar product manufacturers since 2005. Mr. Gavin received his BS from UC Berkeley, is co-author of two patents and has published several technical articles in various trade publications.
Mark Wu
During 2005-2007 Mark was materials buyer for Solar Queen, a solar startup in Taiwan. He worked with Frank Gavin in establishing a California brokerage company, FM Solar where he brokered silicon wafer and solar cell production equipment and raw materials. Previous to his involvement in the global solar industry Mark established trading businesses in Canada, China and Japan. Mr. Wu will be a key negotiator for critical solar cell supply contracts. He received his law degree from Osaka University, Japan and attended Yale University and the University of New Haven for his MBA.
